You can use very general/generic paint colors, or carpet or tile to save money.   What makes it unique is you , ,  Your hobby items you have... those special items you have been collecting,   Maybe you have a need for a great lighting option or an accent area.   How about a bright or intensely colored wall?  Any of these make it special and can add style to the ordinary.   Have the tile laid in a unique way.  Buy a lighted mirror for the bathroom. . . .
